Romani Weiss
Romani Weiss is a guitarist, arranger and composer from one of the best-known musical families of Sinti jazz. He performed on Europe's stages from an early age and grew up in the living tradition of Sinti swing and melodic jazz.
As a member of the Häns'che Weiss Ensemble, he toured Europe for many years and helped carry this musical tradition forward. He was also a longtime musical partner of the jazz violinist Martin Weiss and has worked with many renowned musicians of the jazz scene.
His guitar playing is marked by clear melodic direction, great stylistic assurance and a fine sense of musical drama. Beyond his work as an instrumentalist, he is a highly regarded arranger, and his arrangements are documented on several CD productions.
He is currently part of the duo Strings in Motion, reinterpreting forgotten German classics of the twentieth century alongside the violinist Hanna Bienert, between swing, Latin American rhythms and orchestrally led jazz violin.
